Gear Rental Upgrades

Want to lighten your load on your backpacking trip?  These upgrades can be added on to any of our Beginner Backpacking Trips to swap out the included rental gear for a lighter weight or more comfy option.  Pick and choose the items you want, or bundle and save!

Note: These items are available on a limited basis.  Please order at least 30 days before the start of your trip so we can accommodate your gear requests.

Sleep System:

• Inflatable Sleeping Pad: Add some extra comfort to your backpacking experience with an ultralight inflatable sleeping pad.  These pads are great for side sleepers and help cushion your hips and joints from the hard ground.

• Sleeping Quilt: Backpacking quilts are a great option for active sleepers, hot sleepers, and anyone that wants to save some weight in their pack.  They are designed with an open back and a zippered footbox, giving you more room for movement and an option to unzip and lay the quilt flat like a blanket. They do not have a hood or side zipper like a traditional mummy bag, saving you weight and space in your pack.

Tent:

• Trekking Pole Tent: Trekking pole tents are set up with your trekking poles instead of dedicated tent poles, so they are lighter and more compact than free-standing tents. These ultralight 1-person tents are a great way to save weight!

Backpack:

• Ultralight Pack:  Ultralight packs are designed for the minimalist backpacker.  By removing all the extras, like zipper pockets, storage compartments, and extra straps, these packs lighten the load while maintaining a comfortable load carrying capacity.
